Who We Are
The Whiteman Airport Coalition brings together community leaders, public safety professionals, aviation stakeholders, local businesses, and residents who care about what happens at Whiteman Airport.
We’re focused on making sure any decisions about the airport are grounded in the law, make financial sense, protect regional public safety, and reflect what the community wants. Everything we do is based on documented findings, verified data, and an open, transparent civic process.
Why This Matters
Whiteman Airport is an active public-use facility supporting emergency response, wildfire operations, law enforcement, anti-terrorism operations, and regional transportation.
Los Angeles County is evaluating potential closure. County-commissioned studies raise significant questions about legal constraints, financial exposure, operational feasibility, and public safety impacts. These realities must be clearly understood before any irreversible action is considered.
How We Operate
The Coalition’s work is organized across these three areas:
Stakeholder Alignment: Clear updates summarizing reports, legal considerations, costs, and operational realities
Public Information and Media Engagement: Fact-based coverage focused on safety and fiscal clarity
Institutional Engagement: Direct coordination with Supervisors, County departments, and subject matter experts

Full evaluation of legal obligations, including federal grant assurances
Transparent assessment of fiscal impacts and potential repayment costs of closure
Recognition of the airport’s role in fire response and emergency operations and value to the community
