Los Angeles County is studying whether to close Whiteman Airport.
We believe there is a better path.
This airport serves the San Fernando Valley and the broader region. It supports flight training, small businesses, nonprofits, emergency responders, fire coordination, federal law enforcement, and hundreds of locally based aircraft. It is part of the regional aviation system and plays a role in keeping those flights safely distributed safely across Los Angeles County.

Closing the airport is not a simple fix. The airport has federal obligations, and closure would require federal approval. It would also shift aviation traffic to other nearby airports, increasing congestion and safety pressures elsewhere in the region.
We recognize that residents have raised concerns about noise, pollution, and safety. Those concerns deserve real solutions and measurable improvement, not symbolic actions that create new problems elsewhere.
Let’s work together to find a solution. Sign the petition to support Whiteman Airport
